Fender Bassman

The Fender Bassman is a legendary amp. The Bassman was originally intended to be used with Fender's new electric bass guitar; however, guitar players became very fond of the Bassman's power and overdrive tones. The Bassman is the amp that Jim Marshall reverse engineered when creating his British amp brand "Marshal" in the 60's. The Bassman packs four ten-inch speakers and no on-board effects, this is part of the charm of this amp, its no-frills design makes it pure and punchy. With 45 watts of tube power this amp gets very loud, if you intend on reeling this amp out to get sustaining overdrive you might want to equip it with an attenuator.

The original Tweed Bassmans are worth almost as much as a nice mid-tier sedan. Their holy grail status has made them highly collectible. Fender still makes a very true to the original reissue and a Mojotone kit can be had as well.
